About Us

Jon Darnell founded Patolan Partners in 2011 to offer high quality, genuinely differentiated private placements - both funds and direct investments, especially in the alternative energy/real assets and biomedical sectors - to family office and institutional investors, generally with $1 billion to $50 billion in assets. We have particular experience working with insurance companies and familiarity with considerations of asset/liability matching, SVO ratings and risk-based capital requirements.

Prior to Patolan, Darnell was a Vice President at Morgan Stanley in its dedicated ultra-high net worth group, Private Wealth Management, where he provided investment advice on alternative assets for a small number of wealthy families and institutions with combined total capital exceeding five billion dollars.

Before joining Wall Street, Darnell had a successful career in public interest advocacy and social entrepreneurship, serving in various senior management and board capacities for the nation's largest environmental and citizen advocacy group, the Public Interest Network, and leading Telefund Inc. from start-up to prominence in its industry. Darnell graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University in philosophy and earned his MBA in finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a former nationally ranked squash player and a professionally trained musician, having graduated with a double major in oboe and composition from the Juilliard School, Pre-College Division.
